Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team defeated Grace (Ind.) College 59-44 on Saturday afternoon at Biggers Sports Center, giving coach
John B. Wethington his 300th career win as a college coach.
Wethington now has a career record of 300-198 in 17 seasons, all as head coach of his alma mater.
For the season, LWC improves to 3-1.
Grace (0-2) took its only lead of the game with 14:33 left in the first half on a three-point basket by guard Kami Hilliker to make the score 9-8.
LWC took the lead for good when sophomore center
Terran Duncan scored off a turnover with 9:06 left in the half to give the Blue Raiders a 12-11 lead. The Blue Raiders went on to take a 25-21 halftime lead.
The Blue Raiders opened the second half with a 11-3 run to stretch their lead to 36-24.
But Grace did not give up. The Lancers kept the game close, and then after they connected on two free throws with 3:08 remaining, they trailed 48-44.
But that's all the Lancers offense produced for the game as the Blue Raiders scored the game's final 11 points for the 59-44 win.
Lindsey Wilson used a strong inside game for the second night in a row for the victory: Duncan finished with a team-high 18 points; and senior forward
Demoya Williams scored 12 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, blocked three shots and had three steals.
For the game, the Blue Raiders out-rebounded the Lancers 41-33.
Lindsey Wilson's defense held Grace to 15-for-42 (35.7 percent) shooting and forced 26 turnovers.
Grace center Jade Januseski had a game-high 21 points, on 7-of-10 shooting, and collected nine rebounds.
