Box Score MOBILE, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team advances to the program's first-ever NAIA National Championships Elite Eight with a 5-2 win over Northwood (Fla.) University on Tuesday at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The Blue Raiders (22-2) advance to the quaterfinals to play top-seeded University of Santa Fe (N.M.) at 9 a.m. CT on Wednesday. Santa Fe defeated Berry (Ga.) College 5-1 on Tuesday.
Lindsey Wilson grabbed a 2-1 lead following doubles play. Lindsey Wilson freshmen Sebastian Capozzelli and Roberto Gamito won at the No. 1 doubles position, while the Blue Raiders won at the No. 3 doubles position in a walk-over.
Capozzelli led the Blue Raider singles run with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. Junior
Adrian Arroyave gave the Blue Raiders a point at the No. 4 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 win. The last point came at the No. 6 singles as junior Andy Farmer won in a walk-over.
Northwood, the tournament's eighth-seed, ends its season at 8-8.
