ROME, Ga. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf won their fifth tournament of the fall today at the Stonebridge Women's Invitational hosted by Berry College at Stonebridge Golf Club.
Due to heavy rains prior to and during Tuesday's scheduled second round that made the course unplayable, the tournament was shortened to an 18-hole event. The tournament was originally scheduled for 36 holes over two days.
Lindsey Wilson wins the rain-shortened tournament with Monday's team-total of 320 over the 5,815 yard, par 72 Stonebridge course. The Blue Raiders defeated second place Shorter (Ga.) College (322) by two strokes and Southern Nazarene (Okla.) University (327) by seven strokes.
University of Mobile (Ala.) (329) finished fourth, while Savannah College of Art & Design (Ga.) (331) rounds out the top five in the 12-team tournament.
Lindsey Wilson juniors
Beth Cooper and
Jessica Robertson led the Blue Raiders, as each fired a 76 on Monday. The pair tied for second overall and were named to the all-tournament team.
Southern Nazarene's Jennifer Butler wins medalist honors with a 73.
Lindsey Wilson freshman Cheslee Elkins shot an 83 to tie for 20th, while junior
Lindsay Roberts and sophomore
Aline Decker each shot 85 to tie for 26th. Freshman
