Poor Free-Throw Shooting Dooms Blue Raiders as Women Fall 65-62 to Campbellsville

Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team suffered their third straight Mid-South Conference loss falling to Campbellsville (Ky.) University 65-62 on Thursday night at Biggers Sports Center.

Lindsey Wilson had to only look at its free throw percentage to explain the upset loss.
No. 23-ranked Blue Raiders made just seven of 18 freebies (38.9 percent) during the game en route to falling to 16-9 overall and 4-3 in the Mid-South Conference.

Campbellsville (11-16, 2-5) out-scored the Blue Raiders 21-7 from the charity stripe. The Lady Tigers made 21 of 26 for the game.

Lindsey Wilson overcame a 10-point second half deficit to grab a brief 54-53 lead with 3:31 left. It was the Blue Raiders only lead of the second half.

Lindsey Wilson senior Demoya Williams led the charge, scoring 10 of her game-high 23 points in the nine-minute comeback.

Campbellsville countered the Blue Raider run with the game's next seven points to take a 60-54 lead with 1:45 left.

The Blue Raiders cut the lead to 60-58 with 36 seconds, but the Lady Tigers made five of six free throws in the final half-minute to secure the win.

Sophomore Terran Duncan joined Williams in double figures with 16 points.

Campbellsville senior Jenny Noort led the Lady Tigers with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

In the opening half, Lindsey Wilson overcame an early 8-4 deficit to score the 13 unanswered points and take a 17-8 lead midway through the first half.

Campbellsville responded with a 16-2 run to grab a 24-19 lead with three minutes left in the half. Lindsey Wilson managed to tie the game at 26-26 with 31 seconds remaining in the half, but Campbellsville scored three straight to end the half on top 29-26.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, February 18, as they travel to Pikeville (Ky.) College.
