Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson tennis teams opened up the 2006 season by sweeping Western Kentucky University on Saturday in Bowing Green, Kentucky.

The No. 8 Lindsey Wilson men defeated WKU 6-1. The Blue Raiders' doubles teams upended the Hilltoppers in all three matches. In NCAA rules, one point is allotted to the team which won the most doubles matches.
Lindsey Wilson's Pablo Castanon (6-2, 6-1), Marko Begovic (7-5, 5-7, [12-10]), Edward Khan (6-1, 6-2), Leandro Gubler (6-4, 6-2) and Alejandro Vial (8-5) were all victorious in singles matches.

The Blue Raiders are now 1-0 this season while the Hilltoppers drop to 2-4.

For the women, No. 14 Lindsey Wilson won 5-2 over Western Kentucky. The Blue Raiders were awarded one point for winning two out of three doubles matches.

Natalia Yakimovich (6-4, 7-5), Candela Castanon (6-4, 6-1), Zuzana Rakyta (3-6, 6-4 [10-5]) and Fadzai Mawisire (6-4, 6-4) all won singles matches for the Blue Raiders.

Lindsey Wilson improves to 1-0 on the season with Western Kentucky falling to 2-3.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m CT on Friday, March 3, as the Blue Raiders host conference foe Lambuth (Tenn.) University.
