Big Second Half Propels LWC to 66-56 Win Over Georgetown in Regular-Season Finale

Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson senior Demoya Williams had a double-double on Senior Day to lift Lindsey Wilson College to a 66-56 win over Georgetown College on Saturday in Biggers Sports Center.

Williams scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Blue Raiders outscored the Tigers 40-25 in the second half.
With the scored tied at seven, Georgetown scored 10 unanswered points, capped off with an Ashley Bell field goal, to jump out to a 17-7 lead and 11:36 remaining until halftime. Bell finished the game with team-high 15 points and seven rebounds.

The Blue Raiders answered quickly with an 11-3 run over the next five minutes to cut the Tiger lead to 20-18. Georgetown countered once again to push their lead to nine (27-18) for their largest lead of the game.

Two Krystal Jackson free-throws for Lindsey Wilson ended the first half scoring with Georgetown leading 31-26. Jackson scored a game-high 20 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Lindsey Wilson opened the second half with a 14-5 run over the first seven minutes to take a 40-36 lead. Jackson and sophomore Terran Duncan scored all 14 points in the run for Lindsey Wilson.

The next two minutes saw five lead changes as the teams traded baskets. Tigers' Katie Columbus hit a field goal at 9:56 to give Georgetown a 45-44 lead. Answering for Lindsey Wilson was Duncan with a low-post score to give the Blue Raiders a 46-45 lead. Lindsey Wilson did not trail again.

The Blue Raiders led 56-53 with 2:12 remaining in the game. Lindsey Wilson closed out Georgetown with a 10-3 spurt to pick up the 66-56 win.

Lindsey Wilson gained the win despite shooting 38.2 percent from the field and Georgetown shooting 42.6 percent.

Blue Raider senior Rebecca Husband finishes her career at home with nine points and five rebounds.

The No. 24 Blue Raiders finish the regular season with an 18-10 record and finish third in the Mid-South Conference at 6-4. With the loss, No. 17 Georgetown finishes second in the conference at 7-3 and 22-8 overall. University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) wins the MSC with an 8-2 mark.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on March 2 as the Blue Raiders participate in the Mid-South Conference tournament to be played at the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center in Pikeville, Kentucky.
