Men's Tennis Rallies to Win MSC Tournament Championship, Beats Georgetown 5-2

Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team won their fourth straight Mid-South Conference Tournament title with a 5-2 win over Georgetown (Ky.) College today at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

With the win, Lindsey Wilson earns an automatic bid into next week's NAIA Region XI Tournament in Glasgow. Georgetown will receive one of the two at-large bids for being the MSC Tournament runner-up.
Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson fell behind 1-2 following doubles' play.


Georgetown's Matias Carcamo and Aaron Browning defeated juniors Pablo Castanon and Leandro Gubler 9-7 in the No. 1 doubles match to take a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers grabbed a 2-0 lead following No. 2 doubles.

Georgetown's Andres Escalante and Eugenio Aspillaga defeated senior Adrian Arroyave and sophomore Marko Begovic 8-6.

The win would be the Tigers last.

Lindsey Wilson freshmen Alejandro Vial and Eduard Kahn scored the Blue Raiders first point with an 8-6 win over Georgetown's D.J. McClure and Michael Roenigk.

Lindsey Wilson dominated singles play taking all four matches that were concluded.

At No. 1 singles, Castanon defeated Carcamo 6-2, 6-2, while Begovic beat Escalante 6-4, 6-4 in No. 2 singles.

At No. 4 singles, Kahn defeated Browning 6-3, 6-2, while senior Andy Farmer Georgetown's Frankie Roberts 6-0, 6-2 to secure the 5-2 win.

The remaining matches were halted because Lindsey Wilson had the necessary five points to win the match.

NAIA No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown will be joined by two teams from the TranSouth Conference to make up next week's region tournament field to be played at Gorin Park in Glasgow. Lindsey Wilson will serve as host of the event which begins on Friday, April 28. The championship will be played on Saturday, April 29 with the winner receiving an automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament.
