Women's Basketball Beats Chowan 68-51; Duncan Scores Career-Point 1,000

Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College junior Terran Duncan scored her 1,000th career point tonight to help the Blue Raiders to a 68-51 win over visiting Chowan (N.C.) University at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders used scoring runs of seven, nine and 10 points to overcome an eight point second half deficit to beat Chowan.
Chowan led the Blue Raiders 32-28 at the break and extended its lead to 42-34 with 15:59 left. That's when the Blue Raiders (6-14) used their runs to take control of the game.

Duncan and Lindsey Wilson senior Shola Aladejebi scored four points each to help the Blue Raiders turn the eight-point deficit into a one point lead (43-42) with 12:54 remaining. Aladejebi finished the night with 14 points, while Duncan scored a game-high 20 points.

Chowan's Joi Hazel -- who led the Hawks with 18 points -- ended the 9-0 run with basket in the lane to give her team a 44-43 lead. It was Chowan's last lead.

Aladejebi scored the game's next four points to give the Blue Raiders a 47-44 lead midway through the second half.

Lindsey Wilson and Chowan exchanged baskets over the next two minutes as the Blue Raiders led 51-47 with 8:33 left.

Over the next four minutes, the Blue Raiders put the game out of reach as they out-scored the Hawks 10-0. Lindsey Wilson forced Chowan into 0-of-7 shooting and three turnovers during the run to win its third straight at home.

During the run, Duncan -- who is the reining Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week -- scored an old-fashion three-point play with 5:27 left. The basket pushed the Edmonton, Kentucky, native, 1,000 points for her career.

Duncan -- who made the free throw -- ended the game with 1,001 points in her career. She's the seventh woman to join the 1,000-point club.

Hazel ended the Lindsey Wilson run to cut the lead to 61-49 with 3:55 left.

Lindsey Wilson used a final 7-0 run to extend the lead to 19 points before Hazel scored the final basket of the game for the 68-51 final.

The Blue Raiders limited the Hawks to just four points in the final 10 minutes of the game and to 40 percent (22-of-55) shooting for the game. Lindsey Wilson countered with 52.4 percent (22-of-42) shooting performance.

Lindsey Wilson also forced the Hawks into 20 turnovers -- which resulted in 23 Blue Raider points -- in the win.

Lindsey Wilson junior Krystal Jackson joined Aladejebi and Duncan in double figures with 11 points. She also added a game-high six assists.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 2 p.m. CST on Saturday, January 20, as Lindsey Wilson hosts University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) at Biggers Sports Center in the Mid-South Conference opener.
