Women's Basketball Unable to End Indiana Wesleyan's Streak, Falls 64-57

LAKE WALES, Fla. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team fell to Indiana Wesleyan University 64-57 tonight in the Warner Southern College Hampton Inn Tournament finals at Turner Athletic Center.

The Blue Raiders fall to 8-8 on the season with the loss. Indiana Wesleyan improves to 16-0 on the season with the win.

Lindsey Wilson led by as many as nine points (15-6) six minutes into game, but the Wildcats -- the defending NAIA Division II national champions -- chipped away to lead 24-22 at the half.

Lindsey Wilson senior Krystal Jackson hit a three-pointer to open the second half and give the Blue Raiders a 25-24 lead.

Indiana Wesleyan used an 11-1 run over the next three minutes to take control of the game. The Wildcat lead hit its apex at the 12:58 mark as Indiana Wesleyan grabbed a 44-30 lead.

The eventual tournament champs led 57-46 with 3:24 left before the Blue Raiders made one final run.

Lindsey Wilson freshman Viktoria Krell and senior Moneta Anderson combined to score the next six points to cut the Indiana Wesleyan lead to 57-52 with 2:08 remaining.

Indiana Wesleyan's Andrea Fichter drained a three-pointer to end the Lindsey Wilson run and help the Wildcats to their 54th straight win. Fichter and Brooke Amstutz combined for four straight free throws to seal the 64-57 win.

The Blue Raiders shot 40.7 percent (24-of-59) from the field compared to 50 percent (22-of-44) by the Wildcats.

Krell led the Blue Raiders with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Jackson added 12 points and senior Terran Duncan chipped in 11 points.

Amstutz led four Wildcats in double figures with 15 points. Fichter added 14 and Lisa Thompson and Kayla Thompson each contributed 12.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, January 5, as the Blue Raiders host University of Northwestern Ohio at Biggers Sports Center.
