BARDSTOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team's spring debut was a success today at the Campbellsville (Ky.) University Spring Invite held at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.
The Blue Raiders shot a two-day total of 642 (325-317) over the 5,807-yard, par-72 Maywood course.
Host Campbellsville finished second with a 708 (353-355) and Georgetown (Ky.) College finished third with a 735 (386-349).
The entire Lindsey Wilson team was named to the all-tournament team led by the tournament's medalist freshman
Krista Burton.
Burton -- playing in her first tournament of the season -- finished with a two-day total of 156 (77-79) to win by four strokes over her freshman teammate Cheslee Elkins.
Elkins -- who recorded the tournament's low round on Saturday with a three-over par 75 -- shot 160 (85-75) for fifth top-5 in six career tournaments.
Juniors
Jessica Robertson (83-81) and
Beth Cooper (80-86) finished third and fourth respectively. Robertson finished with a 164, while Cooper carded a 166.
Sophomore
Aline Decker finished sixth with a 170 (88-82).
Campbellsville's Cheris Evans joined the Blue Raider quintet on the all-tournament team with a 166 (83-83).
Lindsey Wilson junior
Lindsay Roberts' 178 (88-90) and senior
Stacy McClain's 184 (97-87) finished ninth and 16th respectively playing as individuals.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Monday, March 26, as the Blue Raiders travel to the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Spring Invitational at Tri-County Country Club in Corbin, Ky.
