CORBIN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team set a team program record today at the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Spring Invitational at Tri-County Country Club.
The No. 3-ranked Blue Raiders shot a team-total 301 on the 5,798-yard, par 72, to beat the previous program record, set in the fall, by nine strokes.
Lindsey Wilson freshman
Krista Burton led the way with an individual program-record three under par 69.
The reigning Mid-South Conference Women's Golfer the Week recorded an eagle, two birdies and 14 pars to best the previous record of 70 set by then-freshman
Beth Cooper in 2004.
Burton, a Russell Springs, Ky., native, bogeyed just one hole in the round to win her second straight tournament.
Lindsey Wilson junior
Jessica Robertson finished second for the third time this season with a three-over par 75. Robertson has finished in the top five in each of the seven tournaments during the 2006-07 season.
Cooper -- now a junior -- fired a 78 to tie for third and freshman Cheslee Elkins was one shot back with a 79, good enough for fifth.
Sophomore
Aline Decker (tied for 11th) rounds out the team with an 86.
Junior
Lindsay Roberts tied Cooper for third with a 78, playing as an individual.
Burton, Robertson, Cooper, Roberts and Elkins joined Tennessee Wesleyan College's Megan Cox on the all-tournament team.
Lindsey Wilson freshman
Cecilee Harlan finished eighth with an 82 and senior
Stacy McClain finished tied for 11th with an 86 playing as individuals.
Lindsey Wilson freshmen
Tracy McClain (100) and Shaina Bowen (113) finished 30th and 35th respectively in the 37-woman field.
Georgetown (Ky.) College finished second with a team-total of 338 and Tennessee Wesleyan was third with a 259.
Campbellsville (Ky.) University (361), Brescia (Ky.) University (369), Kentucky Wesleyan College (383) and host Cumberlands (412) rounds out the seven-team field.
