LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the prestigious Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
The Blue Raider men finished 23rd out of 36 teams -- the majority of which were NCAA schools -- with 673 points. The Lindsey Wilson women finished 24th out of 28 teams with 701 points.
In the men's race, Lindsey Wilson freshman Christopher Kipchirchir led the Blue Raiders with a time of 25:31 over the 8,000-meter course. Kipchirchir finished 76th out of 310 runners.
Senior Emmanuel Isanda finished 98th with a time of 25:44 and freshmen David Mutuse ended in 105th with a time of 25:48. The remaining Blue Raider finishers are as followed: junior Koji Hashiyama (207th) 26:53; freshman Aaron Rousseau (285th) 29:01; freshman Bradley Bilbro (291st) 29:21; junior Caleb LaFond (294th) 29:28; freshman Tony Perugini (307th) 31:29.
University of Louisville won the meet with a team-total of 58 points. Eastern Kentucky University's Jacob Korir won the event with a time of 23:08.
In the women's race, Lindsey Wilson freshman Grace Korir led the Blue Raiders with a time of 19:32 over the 5,000-meter course. Korir ended 114th out of 239 runners.
Junior Marie Coyon finished 119th with a time of 19:37 and junior Cassie Niersel ended in 147th with a time of 19:53. The remaining Blue Raiders are as followed: sophomore Amanda Johnson (207th) 21:31; sophomore Monicah Maiyo (232nd) 23:12; senior Amber Cannon (233rd) 23:22; freshman La'Essence Buckner (235th) 23:50; freshman Nicole Furnish (236th) 23:52; freshman Candace Young (239th) 24:46.
University of Kentucky won the event with a team-total of 55 points. Rend Lake College's Pasca Cheruiyot won the meet with a time of 17:06.
Lindsey Wilson cross country returns to action on Friday, October 12, as the Blue Raiders travel to the Wilmington (Ohio) College Invitational in Wilmington.
