Box Score UPLAND, Ind. -- Lindsey Wilson College sophomore center Viktoria Krell recorded a double-double to help the Blue Raiders to a 72-70 win over Marygrove (Mich.) College on Saturday at the Taylor (Ind.) University Classic.
Krell scored 27 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the Blue Raiders to their second win in as many days. Junior guard Sierra Rambert added 20 points and six assists in the win.
Lindsey Wilson scored the game's first seven points and never trailed in the game.
The Blue Raiders led by as many 13 points (27-14) in the opening half and closed the half on top 35-25.
In the second half, Lindsey Wilson increased its lead back to 13 points with a little more than 14 minutes left in the game before Marygrove made its run.
The Mustangs chipped away at the Lindsey Wilson lead and trailed by one point with 7:36 left. The Blue Raiders momentarily regained control of the game and led 67-62 with 4:02 left after Krell made one of two free throws.
Marygrove's Lonnie Terrell hit a pair of three pointers inside the final two minutes to keep the game close. The final three came with 14 seconds remaining and cut the Lindsey Wilson to 71-70. Terrell finished with a game-high 32 points.
Rambert closed the game's scoring with 1-of-2 free throws with 13 seconds to give the Blue Raiders the 72-70 lead. Krell closed the game with her game-high 16th rebound on Rambert's missed free throw and the Blue Raiders were able to run out the clock for the win.
Lindsey Wilson finished hitting 53.6 percent (30-of-56) of its shots and out-rebounded the Mustangs 48-29.
Krell and Rambert were named to the all-classic team for their play in the two-day event. Terrell and Nicole Carr -- who scored 14 points against the Blue Raiders -- were named to the all-classic team from Marygrove.
The Blue Raiders return to action at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Nov. 4, as Lindsey Wilson travels to Brescia (Ky.) University in Owensboro.
