Wethington Wins Career No. 350

Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Moments after winning his 350th career game, Lindsey Wilson women's basketball coach John B. Wethington didn't think about any one particular game.

He didn't think about the one-point wins or the blowouts; not even the wins against teams his team had no chance of beating, but did.

He thought about his student-athletes on the court shaking the opposition's hands after a 92-81 win over Mid-South Conference foe West Virginia University Tech on Saturday.

He also thought of the countless former players that each helped him obtain this career milestone.

"Every player who put the Lindsey Wilson uniform on and played for me; this is their accomplishment," Wethington said. "I wish they all could have been here today to enjoy this moment."

Wethington is 350-234 in his 19-year career. His coaching accomplishments include four trips to the NAIA National Tournament, six conference titles and five conference coach of the year awards.

He led the Blue Raiders to their first MSC regular season title last season with a 9-1 regular season record. This season, Lindsey Wilson is again in first place at 6-1 with games this week against Campbellsville (Ky.) University on Tuesday, at Pikeville (Ky.) College on Thursday and against Georgetown (Ky.) College in the regular season finale on Saturday at Biggers Sports Center.

"To reach milestones like this one, you have to have the support of your players, your coaching staff and the administration," Wethington said. "I am so incredibly lucky to work for Lindsey Wilson and for an administration that supports our athletic department. Without their support this day would have never happened."

Wethington and his Blue Raiders continue their quest for a second straight MSC title at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday, February 26, as Lindsey Wilson hosts Campbellsville in a women's and men's doubleheader at Biggers Sports Center. The game can be heard on 93.5 (WAIN-FM) beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT with the pre-game show.
