GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team won the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament hosted by Georgetown (Ky.) College in convincing fashion today at Cherry Blossom Golf Club.
With the win, Lindsey Wilson captures their fourth straight MSC regular season championship after winning the fall and spring tournaments.
The Blue Raiders fired a season-best 301 today to finish the tournament with a two-day total of 614 (313-301) over the 6,004-yard, par 72 Cherry Blossom course.
Lindsey Wilson beat second place Campbellsville (Ky.) University, who shot a total of 683 (352-331), by 69 strokes. Host Georgetown finished with a two-day total of 693 (351-342), while University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) ended in fourth with a team-total of 754 (380-374).
Lindsey Wilson sophomore Jessica Smith captured her third straight win with a two-day total of one-under par 143. The Louisville native followed Tuesday's career-low 71 with a closing round of even par 72 (33-39).
Smith led five Blue Raiders on the six-woman all-tournament team.
Lindsey Wilson senior Jessica Robertson finished second with a 154 (80-74). Sophomore Cheslee Elkins finished third with a two-day total of 157 (82-75) and junior Aline Decker -- playing as an individual -- ended in fourth with a total of 158 (77-81).
Sophomore Krista Burton (80-82) and Cumberlands Kayla Peace (82-80) tied for fifth with 162s.
Lindsey Wilson senior Beth Cooper's 163 (83-80) and freshman Chelsey Key's 164 (80-84) finished seventh and eighth respectively.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on May 1-2 as the Blue Raiders travel to the NAIA Region XI / Mid-South Conference Championships held at Maywood Country Club in Bardstown, Ky.
