SAN MARCOS, Calif. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team finished tied for sixth at the NAIA National Championships played at Lake San Marcos Country Club.
The Blue Raiders finished with a four round total of 1,303 (316-331-328-328) over the 5,961 yard par 72 course. Lindsey Wilson finished tied with Lubbock Christian (Texas) University (326-323-326-328).
Oklahoma City University claimed its fourth straight national title with a team total of 1,267 (318-315-309-325).
The Stars finished three shots ahead of national runner-up Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University -- who shot 1,270 (320-313-308-329) -- in the closest finish ever.
Host California State University San Marcos finished third with a 1,284 (311-326-314-333) and University of British Columbia ended in fourth with a 1,288 (318-312-322-336).
Bethel (Ind.) College finished fifth with a 1,300 (327-316-322-334).
Lindsey Wilson sophomore Jessica Smith led the Blue Raiders with a tie for 17th in the 120-woman field. Smith finished with a four-round total of 321 (75-82-81-83). The Louisville native missed the all-tournament team by just two shots.
Defending NAIA individual champion and sophomore Krista Burton ended tied for 24th with a 324 (75-85-83-81).
Senior Jessica Robertson finished with her second straight 80 and jumped into a tie for 35th with a four round total of 328 (85-83-80-80). Senior Beth Cooper ended in a tie for 43rd with a 330 (81-81-84-84).
Junior Aline Decker finished 100th with a 360 (94-90-88-88).
Bethel's Shanna Page captured the individual national championship with a four round total of 308 (75-78-78-77).
