Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team used a 14-0 run over a three-minute span to run past visiting Midway (Ky.) College 88-53 on Saturday at Biggers Sports Center.
The decisive run came over the final 90 seconds of the first half and the first 1:39 of the second half. The Blue Raiders scored nine straight prior to halftime turning a 32-27 lead with 1:30 left into a 41-27 lead at the break.
Lindsey Wilson (8-3) continued the run with five straight points out of the locker room to take a 19-point (46-27) lead. Midway (5-11) never seriously challenged the rest of the way.
The win avenged a 73-72 loss to Midway on the road earlier in the month on Dec. 12.
The Blue Raider defense dominated the visitors as they held the Eagles to 35.6 percent (16-of-45) shooting and forced 28 turnovers. Lindsey Wilson turned the Midway miscues into 27 points.
Lindsey Wilson also controlled the boards, outrebounding Midway 52-30.
Three Blue Raiders recorded double figures led by senior guard Sierra Rambert's 18 points. Sophomore Michelle Copley and junior Bethany Spillman each added 14 points in the win.
Midway's Erica Smiley was the lone Eagle to reach double digits. She finished with 10.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 4 p.m. CT on Jan. 2 at Xavier (La.) University.
