Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half to help erase a halftime deficit as the Blue Raiders defeated Georgetown (Ky.) College 66-61 today at Biggers Sports Center.
Despite trailing by as many five points in the second half, Lindsey Wilson (17-6, 3-2 in the Mid-South Conference) clawed back to tie the game at 49-49 with just over eight minutes left. Junior guard Sierra Rambert's basket with 8:08 left to put the Blue Raiders ahead for good en route to the win.
Rambert finished the night with a career-high 26 points. The Philadelphia native did the majority of her damage from the charity stripe making 14-of-16 free throws for the game.
Georgetown junior guard Jayme Gilbert cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to 59-58 with 3:21 left, but a Rambert answer stopped the Tigers' momentum and gave the Blue Raiders a 61-58 lead with 2:21 left. Gilbert finished with 16 points.
Rambert pushed the lead to 63-58 with a pair of free throws before the Tigers (14-10, 3-3) made another run.
The Tigers cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to three on two different occasions before sophomore guard Diondra Anthony clinched the game with a couple free throws to give the Blue Raiders the 66-61 victory.
Lindsey Wilson sophomore center Viktoria Krell finished with her conference-leading 13th double-double of the season scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Sophomore Bethany Spillman and senior Ewa Bukowska chipped in nine points each.
Georgetown freshman guard Jessica Waddle scored a career-high 16 points, 14 in the first half to help the Tigers lead at the break. Senior guard Katie Filiatreau joined Gilbert and Waddle in double figures scoring 10 points.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Thursday, Feb. 5, as the Blue Raiders travel to St. Catharine (Ky.) College.
