Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team opened the 2009 season with an 8-1 win at University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) yesterday.
Lindsey Wilson swept the singles matches 6-0 and went 2-1 in the doubles matches.
Junior Andrews Moraes won his match in straight sets (6-0, 6-0). Junior Freddy Luciani (7-6, 6-3), sophomore Andre Santos (6-1, 6-0), senior Edward Khan (6-3, 6-1), sophomore Falk Debeenhower (6-0, 6-1) and junior Justin Martin (7-6, 6-3) all won in two sets.
In the doubles matches, Luciani and Khan won 8-3. Santos and Moraes cruised to an 8-2 victory. Cumberlands won its only match of the day defeating Debeenhower and Martin 9-7.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Wednesday, March 11 as the Blue Raiders host the University of Illinois at Springfield.
