RAPID CITY, S.D. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team climbed two more spots today to finish eighth at the NAIA National Championships at Meadowbrook Golf Course.
Lindsey Wilson finished with a four-round total of 1,305 (325-336-322-322) following its second straight 322 in Friday's final round. Oklahoma City University captured its fifth straight national title with a team total of 1,228 (302-311-302-313).
Lindsey Wilson junior Krista Burton capped off a terrific season by making the all-tournament team reserved for the top-15 players and ties. Burton finished tied for 11th in the 144-woman field with a four-round total of 315 (77-81-75-82)
The Jamestown, Ky., native, has twice made the all-tournament team in her three seasons at Lindsey Wilson. She was a member of the 2007 team after capturing the individual national championship as a freshman.
Oklahoma City senior Sydney Cox captured this season's individual title with a 297 (77-73-73-74).
Lindsey Wilson freshman Paola Gonzalez was the second ranked Blue Raider finishing tied for 42nd with a 328 (81-82-82-83). Junior Jessica Smith finished tied for 44th with a 329 (83-86-82-78) following her tournament-best 78 today.
Sophomore Chelsey Key also shot her best round of the tournament today (79) to move up into a tie for 51st with a 333 (84-87-83-79) while junior Cheslee Stone finished 89th with a four-day total of 355 (91-88-84-92).
Lindsey Wilson finishes its season with five tournament wins.
