LONDON, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College senior Krista Burton erased a four-shot deficit today with a one-under par 72 to capture the Bill Sergent Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Club.
Burton's final round helped the Blue Raiders win their second tournament in as many starts. Lindsey Wilson shot a two-day team total of 629 (315-314) over the 5,979-yard, par 73 course.
Host University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) finished second 23 strokes back with a 652 (317-335).
Burton's win is her program-leading 16th career title and the first the season. Burton finished with a two-day total of 150 (78-72).
Lindsey Wilson senior Jessica Smith tied for second overall with a 157 (77-80) and junior Chelsey Key ended in fourth with a 159 (79-80). The pair joined Burton on the all-tournament team.
Senior Cheslee Stone concluded her two days with a ninth place finish following 1 163 (81-82) and sophomore Paola Gonzales ended tied for 11th with a 169 (82-87).
Freshman Kelsey Joslyn tied for seventh with a 162 (81-81) and freshman Jennifer MacKinnon finished 24th in the 45-woman field with a 184 (95-89). The pair played as individuals.
The Blue Raiders return to action Sept. 21-22 as Lindsey Wilson travels to Campbellsville Country Club for the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament.
