After both teams failed to score in the opening quarter, Union made the Blue Raider defense pay in the second quarter with a pair of touchdown passes to enter halftime up 14-0. Sean Mackey was on the receiving end of both short scoring plays of two and four yards, respectively.

Early in the third quarter, Union added three points to the deficit with a 28-yard field goal by Chad Boyington before Smith carried the ball 16 yards into the end zone to make the score 24-0.

With 6 minutes and 20 seconds left in the third quarter. Bowling finally put points on the board for Lindsey Wilson with a 15-yard strike to Moulden to make the score 24-7.

The 17-point deficit was as close as Lindsey Wilson would get the rest of the night as Union went on to lead the game by as many as 30 points (44-14) with a 15-yard Brinkley pass to Burrowes with 3:30 to play in the game.

Excitement was high entering the game as 1,613 fans were on hand to witness the first night game in program history.
