PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Lindsey Wilson College sophomore Jairus Kipkemoi set a new course record today en route to capturing the Shawnee State (Ohio) University Invitational.
Kipkemoi ran the 10,000-meter course in 25 minutes and 11 seconds to set the new mark by one second. Shawnee State's Michael Owen finished second with a time of 25:18.
The Blue Raiders finished sixth overall in the 12-team event with 173 team points. No. 2-ranked Shawnee State captured its eighth straight SSU Invitational title with 24 team points.
Lindsey Wilson sophomore Jordan Green crossed the finish line in 49th place in the 127-man field with a time of 28:53. Freshman Matthew Mattingly finished 66th for the Blue Raiders in 29:55.
LWC freshmen Oscar Bormanis (31:10), Blake Hendricks (31:16) and Andrew Wright (31:18) finished 81st, 82nd and 83rd respectively. Freshman Anthony Saylor crossed the line with a time of 36:52, good enough for 109th.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Friday, Oct. 15, as the Blue Raiders travel to the Wilmington (Ohio) College Invitational.
