Box Score MCKENZIE, Tenn. -- Molly Wallsmith scored 37 points and Bethel (Tenn.) University forced the Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team into 23 turnovers to help pull out a 93-87 win against the Blue Raiders in overtime on Friday.
Lindsey Wilson (1-1) led by 10 points in regulation with less than five minutes to play, but Bethel (5-0) stormed back, tying the game at 81 before Michelle Copley's last second heave missed, sending the game into overtime.
Bethel's Teena Carter came alive in the extra period, as her two free throws and a bucket down the stretch pushed the Wildcats in front by four to help hold on for the six-point win.
Sophomore Ashley Rainey led Lindsey Wilson with 29 points and six rebounds, while senior Viktoria Krell added 21 points and senior Diondra Anthony tallied 16.
Bethany Spillman joined the trio in double figures scoring with 11 points and five rebounds to go along with a team-high three steals.
The Blue Raiders outrebounded the Wildcats 36-21, but the 23 turnovers and just seven assists didn't allow the advantage on the glass to help like it should.
Both teams shot well from the field with Lindsey Wilson leading 58.6 to 50.9 percent, but 3-pointers were a different story as the Blue Raiders hit just 2-of-11 attempts from behind the arc. Bethel hit 7-of-19 for 36.8 percent.
The Wildcats greatest advantage came at the free-throw line where they hit 32-of-36 from the stripe, while Lindsey Wilson hit just 17-of-28.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6 p.m. CT on Nov. 16 against Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College in Biggers Sports Center.
