COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Union (Ky.) University was too strong for the Lindsey Wilson College swimming team to catch up as the Bulldogs swam to a 130-62 win on Saturday morning at the Holloway Health and Wellness Center Natatorium.
Despite the lopsided loss, Lindsey Wilson still came away with a pair of highlights as sophomore Daniel Lyle and freshman Jonathan Hindman each added a new NAIA National Standard "A" cut in the 400-yard individual medley.
Lyle finished his 400-IM in four minutes and 36.91 seconds, while Hindman touched in 4:30.64. Hindman placed second in the race as Lyle was racing as an exhibition and did not count towards the team point totals.
The 800-freestyle relay team of Lyle, Hindman, Jordan Green and Troy Jobe also made a new "A" cut time for the Blue Raiders, finishing in 7:44.70. Their time would have beat Union, but the relay was also an exhibition for Lindsey Wilson.
The Blue Raiders posted wins in the 200-free with Jobe touching in 1:54.92 and the 200-butterfly with Corey Hall speeding past the competition in 2:02.58. Jobe also took first place in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:05.59 and Lyle won the 500-free in 5:15.61.
Hindman made his first-place finish in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:17.48.
