Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team sent its senior class out in style, taking apart West Virginia University Institute of Technology 70-40 on Thursday at Biggers Sports Center.
Twelve Blue Raiders scored on the night, while Viktoria Krell paced the group as the only player in double figures scoring with 14 points and seven rebounds. Lindsey Waters added nine points, while Diondra Anthony tallied eight.
Kelli Morgan led a struggling Golden Bear team with 10 points and five rebounds, while leading scorer Ashley Blaney was limited to just nine points, despite pulling down a game-high eight rebounds.
Blaney scored the game's first basket to give West Virginia Tech (10-18, 1-12 MSC) its only lead of the game as a free throw by Sierra Rambert and field goal by Krell gave Lindsey Wilson a 3-2 lead that it kept for good. Sabrina Manning drained a 3-pointer on the Blue Raiders next possession to make the score 6-2 and Lindsey Wilson (18-10, 7-6 MSC) rolled from there.
With 1:38 to play in the first half a basket by Bethany Spillman pushed the lead to 18 (33-15), which was the score they took into halftime.
The game didn't get any better for the Golden Bears in the second half as Lindsey Wilson pushed ahead by as many as 35 points (69-34) on a shot by Manning with just under five minutes to play in the game.
The Blue Raiders finished the game shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from 3-point range (4-of-18). West Virginia Tech shot 30.6 percent from the field and was held without a 3-pointer the entire game (0-for-10).
Lindsey Wilson outrebounded the Golden Bears 51-25.
The Blue Raiders return to action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 27 at St. Catharine College for their regular-season finale.
