Men's Tennis Takes Care of Georgetown College 8-1

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The14th ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team opened Mid-South Conference play in style, topping Georgetown (Ky.) College 8-1 on Tuesday at the Lackey Tennis Center.

All three doubles points went to the Blue Raiders as Andrews Moraes and Andre Santos led the pack with an 8-2 win at No. 1. The second seeded pair of Freddy Luciani and Marlon Dalpont won 8-1 and Antoine Pourin and Justin Martin tallied an 8-2 win.

Lindsey Wilson won all but one singles match with Jarad Hartley falling to Ben Scott 6-3, 6-0 as the No. 6 seed.

Luciani won at No. 1, 6-1, 6-3 over Miguel Reyes and Moraes was successful at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Benjamin Aspillaga.

Santos defeated Paul Ganev 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, while Dalpont took a 6-1, 6-1 decision from Zack Thomas at No. 4. Pourin nearly blanked Ross Phelps at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-1 win.

The Blue Raiders rebounded from their 5-0 loss to then-seventh ranked Oklahoma Christian University on March 14 to improve to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Tigers drop to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the MSC.

Lindsey Wilson returns to the court at 2 p.m. CT on March 25 at Brescia (Ky.) University.
