Box Score MARS HILL, N.C. -- The 13th ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team faltered at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, but recovered to win every other match and beat Mars Hill (N.C.) College 7-2 on Thursday.
The Blue Raiders -- winners of 10 straight matches -- opened with three tough doubles wins.
Andre Santos and Andrews Moraes combined at No. 1 doubles to beat Lucas Simm and Keoche Smith 8-5, while the second-seeded pair of Freddy Luciani and Justin Martin outlasted Alessandro du Besse and Stevan Stankovic 8-6.
Marlon DalPont and Antoine Pourin wrapped up the doubles sweep with an 8-4 decision against Carlos Oyaga and Brad Bassinger.
Luciani lost his No. 1 singles match in three sets (6-2, 1-6, 6-4) against bu Besse, while Santos lost at No. 3 against Simm in three sets as well, 3-6, 7-5, 6-0.
Moraes beat Smith at No. 2 singles 6-1, 7-6 (3), while DalPont was successful at the four spot against Stankovic 6-2, 7-6 (4). Pourin routed Bassinger for the Blue Raiders 6-0, 6-2 and Martin outlasted Zach High 7-6 (4), 2-6, (11-9) using a tiebreaker to decide the last set.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 17 against Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College at the Lindsey Wilson Tennis Courts.
