GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- For the second straight tournament, the Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team finished the opening round in third place. And for the second straight tournament, the Blue Raiders rebounded to win.
Lindsey Wilson followed its worst round of the season on Monday (327) with a 308 today to win the Bluegrass Spring Classic hosted by Georgetown (Ky.) College at Cherry Blossom Golf Club.
Lindsey Wilson finished with a team total 635 (327-308) to win by three strokes. University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) -- the first round leader -- finished second with a 638 (321-317) and Campbellsville (Ky.) University finished third with a 657 (325-332).
Four Blue Raiders earned all-tournament team honors for their top-five finishes. Seniors Krista Burton, Jessica Smith and Cheslee Stone and junior Paola Gonzales joined Cumberlands' Emma Cutmore and McKinzie Price and Campbellsville's Katie White all earned all-tournament honors.
Smith produced the low round of the tournament with today's one-over par 73. She finished second overall with a 154 (81-73), one shot off Cutmore's 153 (74-79).
Burton finished third with a 155 (78-77) while Gonzales (83-76) and Stone (83-76) -- playing as an individual -- finished tied for fifth with a 159.
Junior Chelsey Key finished 14th with a 168 (85-83) and freshman Kelsey Joslyn tied for 20th with a 172 (90-82) in the 47-woman field.
In addition to Stone, freshmen Jennifer MacKinnon and Paige Raine competed as individuals. MacKinnon finished in eighth place with a 162 (80-82) and Raine tied for 15th with a 169 (85-84).
Lindsey Wilson returns to action April 15-16 as the Blue Raiders travel to the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament at Crooked Creek Golf Club in London, Ky.
