Box Score MOBILE, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team suffered a season-ending 5-0 loss to Vanguard (Calif.) University today in the NAIA National Tournament at the Mobile Tennis Center.
No. 6-seed Vanguard jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping the Blue Raiders in the three doubles matches.
Lindsey Wilson's Andrews Moreas and Andre Santos lost 8-6 to Vanguard's Lucas Periera and Tino Brodar in the top doubles match. LWC's Freddy Luciani and Justin Martin also suffered an 8-6 loss in the No. 2 doubles match against Alessandro Ventre and Sandro Bucher.
Vanguard completed the doubles sweep with Mark Tarjan and Nils Iwdal's 8-3 win over Marlon Dalpont and Antoine Paurin in the No. 3 doubles match.
In singles play, the Blue Raiders managed to win just six games at No. 1 and No. 6 singles in a pair of losses.
Ventre defeated Luciani 6-4, 6-0 in the top singles match and Yagor Kryvaruchka won 6-1, 6-1 to close out the 5-0 win. The rest of matches were halted once Vanguard reached five points.
Lindsey Wilson concludes its season with a 17-4 record.
