Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at NAIA

RAPID CITY, S.D. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team finished sixth at the NAIA National Championships today at Meadowbrook Golf Course.

Lindsey Wilson shot a four-round team-total of 1,278 (322-316-318-322) to finish in the national tournament's top-10 for the fourth consecutive year. The Blue Raiders have finished eighth, sixth twice and second in the last four years.

Lindsey Wilson senior Jessica Smith led the Blue Raiders during the week en route to making the all-tournament team for her tie for 13th place in the 128-woman field. The all-tournament team is reserved for the top-15 players and ties.

Smith concluded the tournament with a four-day total of 312 (79-76-78-79). She led the Blue Raiders during the week with nine birdies in the 72-hole tournament, including two in today's final round.

The Blue Raiders concluded its season today with a 322.

Junior Chelsey Key fired a team-best six over par 78 in the final round. The 78 was her second straight of the tournament. Key concluded the tournament tied for 50th with a total of 326 (90-80-78-78).

Freshman Kelsey Joslyn finished tied for 42nd overall after firing an 82 on Friday. Joslyn finished her first national tournament with a four-round total of 322 (81-80-79-82).

Seniors Cheslee Stone and Krista Burton completed the tournament tied for 53rd and tied for 60th respectively. The pair each shot 83s in today's round. Stone finished with a four-round total of 327 (81-80-83-83) while Burton shot a tournament-total of 331 (81-84-83-83).

University of British Columbia captured the national title with a 1,224 (301-311-311-301). California Baptist University's Nathalie Silva's won the individual title with a four-round total of 301 (74-76-75-76).

In addition to being named to the all-tournament team, Smith captured the 2010 Long Drive Championship held during Monday's practice round. Smith hit her drive 278 yards to win by 23 yards over the nearest competitor.
