Ronoh Wins Greater Louisville Cross-Country Classic, Sets Program Record

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Finishing the 5,000-meter course at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in a program-record 17 minutes and 56.73 seconds, Lindsey Wilson College junior Sharon Ronoh took first place in the Greater Louisville Classic Women's Silver run to help the Blue Raider cross-country team finish 13th out of 32 teams on Saturday.

Three individuals from the Blue Raider men's program competed as well, led by freshman Ben Graham in 226th place with a time of 31:54.41.

While Ronoh's performance will go down in the record books, plenty of other Blue Raiders contributed to the strong team finish by the women.

Senior Alicia Mattingly finished in the top 100 of the 261-harrier field in 20:46.78 taking 68th place and sophomore Maria Sanchez clocked in at 21:23.95 to take 96th place and lead Lindsey Wilson towards it 371 team points.

Other finishers for the Blue Raider women were senior Nicole Furnish in 146th place with a time of 22:18.14, sophomore Amanda Bland in 171st place (22:45.41), freshman Jennifer Miller is 178th place (22:50.32), freshman Hayley Helton in 197th place (23:14.18), crossing in 208th place was sophomore Reini Brickson in 23:33.00, finishing 223rd was freshman Katelyn Davis in 24:00.92 and turning in a time of 24:43.85 was freshman Angela Herbig to finish 237th.

Wheeling Jesuit University took the women's team title with 46 points, while its Jen McFarland was the next runner behind Ronoh, finishing in 18:26.97 to take second place.

Also running for the men's program were newcomer J.R. Northcutt who took 236th place in 32:42.53 and sophomore Kameron Spivey finishing 249th in 34:35.77.

The Lindsey Wilson College cross-country teams return to action at 3:30 p.m. CT on Oct. 7 at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio.
