ROME, Ga. --The Lindsey Wilson College women's cross country team finished 17th at Saturday's Southeastern Cross Country Classic hosted by Berry (Ga.) College.
The Blue Raiders finished with 453 team points in the 35-team field. Indiana Wesleyan University won the event with 107 points.
Lindsey Wilson's Sharon Ronoh continued her dominance this season with a fifth consecutive individual title. The reigning NAIA and MSC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week finished the 5,000 meter course in 17 minutes and 49 seconds to win the race by 18 seconds over Berry's Jennifer Cook.
Ronoh set the course record with her career-best time. The Timboroa, Kenya, junior ran seven seconds faster than her previous best set at the Greater Louisville Classic earlier this month.
Senior Alicia Mattingly and sophomore Maria Sanchez crossed the line in 98th and 100th in the field of 310 harriers. Mattingly finished with a time of 20:55 while Sanchez ended in 20:56.
Sophomore Madison Mills (21:48) crossed the finish line in 163rd position followed by sophomore Reini Brickson (22:18) in 183rd, sophomore Amanda Bland (22:27) in 189th and freshman Katarina Gimborys (22:39) in 201st.
Three Lindsey Wilson College men competed today in the 8,000 meter race.
Freshman Ben Graham led the Blue Raider trio with a time of 31:23 good enough for 255th in the 309-man field. Sophomore Kameron Spivey crossed the line in 278th with a time of 33:18 and freshman Jerry Gray ended in 37:48 and 304th position.
Bryan (Tenn.) College captured the men's team title with 65 team points while Embry Riddle (Fla.) University's Evans Kirwa won the individual title with a time of 24:17.
The Lindsey Wilson College men and women return to action on Saturday, Nov. 5 as the Blue Raiders travel to the Mid-South Conference Championships hosted by Shawnee State (Ohio) University in Portsmouth, Ohio.
