COLUMBIA, Ky. -- In the first women's swimming meet in Lindsey Wilson College history the Blue Raiders wasted little time making a splash on the national scene as the 200-yard freestyle relay team turned in a national "A" cut time of 1 minute and 52.5 seconds in the 198-34 loss to Asbury (Ky.) University on Friday at the Holloway Health & Wellness Center Natatorium.

The history-making relay team was comprised of freshmen Stephanie Davis, Kate Spaulding and Sarah Wood and sophomore Deah Reese who will all be eligible for the same event at the NAIA National Championship at the end of the season.

Although the Eagles won the overall meet by a wide margin, it was a good first step at getting the women's program at Lindsey Wilson off the ground with plenty of solid individual performances.

Wood finished second in the 1,000-free with a time of 11:36.41 and Spaulding finished third in the 100-backstoke with a time of 1:08.50 which was just five seconds off the winning pace.

Wood struck again with another top-three finish in the 100-free finishing third with a time of 59.43 seconds, followed by another third-place finish in the 500-free, touching in 5:40.36.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday with a double dual-meet against Berea (Ky.) College and Warren Wilson (N.C.) College at the Holloway Health & Wellness Center Natatorium.
