Men's Swimming Loses Battle against Asbury 132-115

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's swimming team made things interesting on Friday, taking Asbury (Ky.) University down to the wire before a 132-115 loss at the Holloway Health & Wellness Center Natatorium.

The Blue Raiders -- in just their third season of competition -- got the traditionally-strong Eagles attention in the meet, making nine NAIA national-championship cut times, including four "A" standards.

Lindsey Wilson also finished first in eight events, including taking the first two spots in the 500-yard freestyle.

The first national "A" cut came in the first event of the night as the 200-medley relay team punched its ticket to nationals with a one minute and 42.75 second finish to take second place.

Included in the relay team were junior Daniel Lyle, sophomores Corey Hall and Jonathan Hindman and freshman William Alvey.

Junior Logan Wetzel tallied the first win of the night for Lindsey Wilson, touching in 10:16.39 in the 1,000-freestyle. The next "A" cut was also a win for the Blue Raiders as freshman Connor Lyle won the 200-free in 1:46.13.

Hindman continued the strong finishes with a national "B" cut of 1:02.35 in the 100-breastsroke, followed by Hall taking top honors in the 200-butterfly with a time of 1:58.67 which was good for another "A" cut.

Connor Lyle blazed past the competition again in the 100-free, winning in 47.87 seconds, nearly three seconds ahead of the nearest competition.

Hindman's win in the 200-breast was a national "B" cut with a time of 2:17.72, while Connor Lyle took first place and Wetzel second in the 500-free. Lyle touched in 4:56.6- and Wetzel finished in 4:59.33, both times were good for "B" cuts on the national standards.

Hall wrapped up his first-place finishes for the night in the 100-fly, making a "B" cut in 54.41 seconds and the 200-free relay team of Hindman, Daniel Lyle, Connor Lyle and newcomer Luke Royal finished first as well with a national "A" cut time of 1:29.60.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday for a double-dual meet against Berea (Ky.) College and Warren Wilson (N.C.) College at the Holloway Health & Wellness Center Natatorium.
