Box Score MARS HILL, N.C. -- Shooting 54 percent from the field and forcing Lindsey Wilson College into 22 turnovers, the Mars Hill (N.C.) College women's basketball team won easily in the Biltmore Farms Classic against the Blue Raiders 80-53 on Friday night in Stanford Arena.
The Lions' Tyler Carlson led all scorers with 19 points and Taylor Deal chipped in with 17 points, including a game-high 12 rebounds. Ansley Ricker who hit 3-of-5 3-pointers and Danielle Tucker joined them in double figures with 13 points each.
After scoring just two points in a loss to Lee (Tenn.) University on Tuesday, Lindsey Wilson freshman Monny Niamke found her shot again to lead the team with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists, while sophomore Jasmine Brimm added a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards.
The pair didn't get a lot of help on offense as seniors Ashley Franklin and Taylor Lockridge were next in line with seven points each.
Senior Michelle Copley came off the bench to knock down a three and grab four rebounds, while sophomore Laura Skudra matched her four boards and tallied four points.
While the Blue Raiders struggled with turnovers and repeatedly got beat on plays in the post, they still have a strong effort on the glass, trailing Mars Hill just 36-31.
Still Lindsey Wilson was never in the game from the get go as Mars Hill was up 46-23 by halftime and never allowed the Blue Raiders to take a lead. Conversely, the Lions rocketed up to leads as high as 30 points in the game.
The Blue Raiders had an off night from the field, shooting just 35.2 percent, but may have had their best game of the season from behind the arc, knocking down six threes for 30.0 percent.
Lindsey Wilson has a quick turnaround as it continues play in the Biltmore Farms/Mars Hill Classic at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday against Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) University in Stanford Arena.
