COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's swimming team returned home to the Holloway Center Natatorium on Saturday afternoon to face Bethel (Tenn.) University and Rhodes (Tenn.) College in a tri-meet.
The Blue Raiders earned wins against both teams, topping Bethel 76-8 and Rhodes 59-32.
Freshman Connor Lyle dominated the field in the 200-yard freestyle, touching in one minute and 48.91 seconds for the Blue Raiders' first win of the day.
Newcomer Luke Royal followed that win up with a second-place finish in the 50-freestyle, finishing in 22.97 seconds, while Rhodes' Erik Campbell touched just ahead in 22.82 seconds.
Lindsey Wilson increased its lead in the 400-individual medley with the top-two spots in the race. Junior Logan Wetzel cruised to take first in 4:29.41, while newcomer Will Alvey touched in 4:39.35 to take second.
Royal earned his first win of the day in the 100-free with a time of 50.17 seconds, over a second and half ahead of Rhodes' Matthew Washnock who took second.
Wetzel and Alvey finished in first and second respectively in the 100-backstroke as Wetzel clocked in at 58.14 seconds and Alvey touched in 58.23 seconds.
Connor Lyle routed the field in the 500-free, touching under five minutes in 4:57.62 and 14 seconds ahead of Rhodes' Alex Rejaee who finished second in 5:11.46.
Lindsey Wilson pulled off another one-two sweep in the 100-breastroke as sophomore Johnathan Hindman took first in 1:05.31 and Daniel Lyle clocked in at 1:07.18 to take second.
The best result of the day was a national "A" cut in the 800-free relay as the Blue Raiders took first place in 7:35.25. Sophomore Corey Hall, Hindman, Wetzel and Connor Lyle made up the national-cut earning relay team.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Dec. 2-3 at the Union College Invitational in Barbourville, Ky.
