Men's Swimming Fourth, Women Eighth at Sewanee Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- In the field of 11 teams, the Lindsey Wilson College men's swimming team finished fourth and the women eighth at the 11th Annual Sewanee Invitational hosted by Sewanee University of the South on Friday and Saturday at the Fowler Center.

Freshman Connor Lyle got the Blue Raiders off to a strong start with a win in the men's 100-yard individual medley, finishing in 55.43 seconds taking the win in the field of 31.

The men continued to have success in the 1,650-freestyle, taking the first-three finishes as junior Logan Wetzel won the race in 17 minutes and 18.12 seconds, Connor Lyle took second in 17:39.10 and sophomore Jonathan Hindman was third in 17:58.72.

At the end of the meet, the men earned a win in the 200-free relay with a time of 1:31.61 swam by Freshman Luke Royal, junior Daniel Lyle, Connor Lyle and Hindman.

Hall earned another win in the 200-butterfly with a time of 1:59.37, while Connor Lyle finished the 200-free in 1:47.91 for another first-place finish.

Freshman Kate Spaulding earned a national "B" cut in the 100-breastroke with a time of 1:13.59 to take third place and her classmate Sarah Wood finished the 200-free in 2:06.44 to also earn a "B" cut to lead the women.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at Noon CT on Nov. 12 at Union (Ky.) College.
