Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team scored 22 unanswered points in the first half and never looked back en route to a 96-39 win over visiting Ohio Christian University on Thursday at Biggers Sports Center.
The No. 22-ranked Blue Raiders (9-3) extended their lead to as many as 59 points (96-37) in the game to win for the fifth straight time this season. Ohio Christian falls to 8-4 with the loss.
Every Blue Raider that played scored during Lindsey Wilson's 57-point win -- their largest margin of victory of the season. The 96 points are also a season-high for the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson junior Ashley Rainey recorded her first double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds while playing just 15 minutes in the first of three games over three days for the Blue Raiders. Rainey -- who was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field -- also dished out three assists and recorded two steals.
While Rainey led the team, the Blue Raider reserves turned in their best performance of the season. Seniors Taylor Lockridge and Tiffany Williams scored season-highs with 12 and 15 points respectively as the Lindsey Wilson bench scored a season-best 51 points.
In addition to dominating the scoreboard, the Blue Raiders were equally impressive on the glass ripping down a season-high 63 rebounds compared to just 29 from the Trailblazers. Freshman Ranika Rone led the Blue Raider charge on the boards with a career-high 13 rebounds. Rone added six points to her career-best rebounding effort.
For the game, Lindsey Wilson limited Ohio Christian to 21.3 percent (13-of-61) shooting, including three for 23 (13 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. Lindsey Wilson made 36-of-73 from the field for 49.3 percent.
Ohio Christian's Dannyel Butte scored a team-high 12 points as the only Trailblazer to score in double figures.
The Blue Raiders held the Trailblazers scoreless for 8:30 in the opening half turning a 15-7 lead into a 37-7 lead with 6:49 left in the half. During the drought, Ohio Christian missed all 10 of its shots while committing five turnovers.
Lindsey Wilson closed the half by extending its lead to as many as 36 points (48-12) before leading 48-13 at the break.
During the opening half, the Lindsey Wilson defense limited the Trailblazers to just 10.7 percent shooting (3-of-28) and forced 10 turnovers.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, Dec. 16 as the Blue Raiders host Cumberland (Tenn.) University at Biggers Sports Center.
