No. 14 Women's Basketball Rushes Past Pikeville 75-60

Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Jasmine Brimm scored a career-high 26 points and Monny Niamke added 14 to help the 14th ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team beat the University of Pikeville (Ky.) 75-60 on Saturday afternoon in Biggers Sports Center.

Whitney Jackson led the Bears with 25 points and Jalisa Jones added nine points, while Lenae Shouse-Stacy was the rebound leader with nine.

The Blue Raider offense was cooking in the first half as they hit 19 shots from the field, while Pikeville managed to just shoot 17.

Pikeville (2-7, 0-4 MSC) wasn't awful from the field, shooting 47.1 percent on 8-of-17 shooting, but spent a large part of the half at the free-throw line.

Twelve of the Bears' 30 first-half points came at the stripe, while their inability to hold on to the basketball was an issue as six players had multiple turnovers.

Brimm and Niamke were a nearly unstoppable force early, scoring 15 and 10 points respectively by halftime as Lindsey Wilson (6-3, 2-1 MSC) took a 50-30 lead into the break.

Things got sloppy for Lindsey Wilson in the second half, finishing the game with 14 turnovers and 18 assists, but with the large lead already built it was able to withstand a brief Pikeville run.

The Bears outscored the Blue Raiders in the second half 30-25 and outrebounded Lindsey Wilson 40-31 for the game.

Still 26 turnovers and shooting just 40.0 percent from the field hurt the Bears as the Blue Raiders hit eight threes for 47.1 percent to hold on to the win.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Dec. 9 against sixth ranked Bethel (Tenn.) University in Campbellsville, Ky.
