BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Swimming in a field of six teams, the Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's swimming teams both posted fourth-place finishes at the Union College Winter Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Barbourville, Ky.
The men tallied 451 points, while Sewanee University of the South took the team title with 816 points, Union placed second with 596 points and Milligan College rounded out the top three with 476 points.
The Blue Raider women finished with 302 points as Sewanee won the women's title as well with 657 points, Union was second (582) and Milligan took third (437).
William Alvey posted the Blue Raider men's first top-three finish in third with a time of two minutes and 8.36 seconds in the 200-yard individual medley. Sarah Wood did the same for the women in the next event, placing third in the 500-freestyle with a time of 5:43.83.
Logan Wetzel placed third with a time of 5:07.81 in the men's 500-free, while Kate Spaulding kept the streak of third-place finishes alive with a showing of 1:14.54 in the 100-breaststroke.
Alvey placed third in the 200-backstroke after touching in 2:07.75 and Connor Lyle was just shy of first place in the men's 100-free with a time of 48.33 seconds. Sewanee's Brian Glatt won the event in 48.03 seconds.
Corey Hall posted the first win of the day for the Blue Raider men, completing the 200-butterfly in 1:56.87.
The Blue Raiders' men's 400-medlay relay team took third place with a time of 3:42.94, posted by Alvey, Hall, Connor Lyle and Johnathan Hindman.
Connor Lyle, Hall, Hindman and Wetzel finished third in the 800-free relay as well with a time of 7:56.12.
The men's 200-medlay relay group posted a third-place finish as well in 1:42.54 and Wetzel was the runner-up in the 400-IM with a showing of 4:36.88. Spaulding was strong in the 200-breast for the women as well, placing third in 2:42.50.
Hindman posted yet another third in the 200-breast with a time of 2:19, while Hall won again in the 100-fly with a time of 53.50 seconds.
Wood finished well in the long-distance 1,650-free, placing third in 19:46.68, while Wetzel was third for the men in the same event with a time of 17:29.74.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5:30 p.m. CT on Dec. 13 in a tri-meet with Campbellsville (Ky.) University and the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) at the Holloway Health & Wellness Center Natatorium.
