LONDON, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team captured its spring opener today and its third overall win of the season with a wire-to-wire win at the Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate hosted by University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) at Crooked Creek Golf Club.
After leading following yesterday's team-total 320 in the opening round, the No. 10-ranked Blue Raiders closed with a 331 today to beat host Cumberlands by five strokes to claim the tournament title.
Lindsey Wilson finished with a two-round total of 651 compared to Cumberlands' 656 (326-330). Campbellsville (Ky.) University finished third with a 675 (343-332).
Lindsey Wilson senior Chelsey Key captured her second career title with a three-stroke win over sophomore teammate Kelsey Joslyn.
Key finished with a two-day total of 157 (79-78) while Joslyn (76-84) tied with Cumberlands' McKinzie Price (78-82) with 160s. Lindsey Wilson freshman Kaitlin Allan finished fifth overall to join Key and Joslyn on the all-tournament team. Allan ended the tournament with a two-day total of 163 (78-85).
Sophomore Jennifer MacKinnon finished 15th with a 175 (87-88) and junior Paola Gonzalez ended in 16th with a 176 (92-84) to round out the Lindsey Wilson quintet. Freshman Candace Stacy, playing as an individual, finished tied for 21st with a 187 (98-89).
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on April 4-5, as the Blue Raiders travel to Agnes McAmis Memorial Tournament at Link Hills Country Club in Greenville, Tenn.
