Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- For the first time this season, the Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team completed a 9-0 shutout as it rolled past the University of Virginia's College at Wise on Sunday at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders - winners of their past 10 matches - improved to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in the Mid-South Conference with the win. UVa.Wise falls to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the MSC with the loss.
Lindsey Wilson dropped just eight games the entire match in singles and doubles combined, including an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles for freshmen Clinton Berry and Jacob Bryant over Matt Sisk and Jimmy Stewart that was the closest result of the day for the Cavaliers.
Playing in their final home match of their careers, seniors Andrews Moraes and Andre Santos recorded an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles against Chase Cupp and Zack Holcomb and freshman Fabricio Morales and sophomore Victor Saez topped Steven Wood and Nick Austin 8-0 at No. 2.
None of the singles' scores were close for UVa.-Wise, led by Morales' 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 against Holcomb. Moraes held Cupp without a game at the second seed, as did Saez at No. 3 against Wood and Santos at No. 4 against Austin.
Cox won his second match of the season 6-0, 6-1 against Sisk at No. 5 and Berry won his first singles' match of the season 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 against Mark Collins.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on April 29-30 at the Mid-South Conference Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn.
