Women's Golf Finishes Seventh at Agnes McAmis Memorial Invitational

GREENVILLE, Tenn. -- The No. 10-ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team finished seventh overall today at the Agnes McAmis Memorial Women's Golf Invitational.

The Blue Raiders ended the two-day tournament with a team-total of 645 (323-322) to finish in the middle of the pack of the predominantly NCAA Division II tournament at Link Hills Country Club.

Lindsey Wilson junior Paola Gonzalez led the Blue Raiders with a tie for 14th in the 90-woman tournament. Gonzalez lost a stroke off her opening round 79 to shoot an eight-over par 80 today and finish with a two-day total of 159.

Gonzalez took advantage of the par 5s during the tournament en route to her best finish -- in relation to par -- of the season. The Las Palmas, Spain, native, was one of only eight golfers in the field to play the par 5s even par or better during the tournament.

Senior Chelsey Key turned in the low score of the day for the Blue Raiders with a 78 over the 5,805-yard, par-72 layout. Key finished a stroke behind Gonzalez with a two-day total of 160 (82-78) to finish in a tie for 18th.

While Gonzalez played the par 5s in even par, Key took advantage of the par 4s. She led the tournament in par 4 scoring playing those holes in two-over par over the two days.

Freshman Kaitlin Allan joined Key in a tie for 18th after she fired an 82 on Tuesday. She concluded the tournament with a 160 (78-82) total.

Sophomore Kelsey Joslyn ended in a tie for 46th with a 166 (84-82) while sophomore Jennifer MacKinnon finished with a 172 (86-86) to round out the Lindsey Wilson team.

Freshman Candace Stacy -- playing as an individual -- continued her best showing as a Blue Raider with a tie for 24th. Stacy followed up her career-best 80 on Monday with an 81 today to shoot a two-day total of 161.

Belmont Abbey (N.C.) College won the team title with a 600 (299-301) while Carson Newman (Tenn.) College's Jessica Tarbet won medalist honors with a 147 (73-74).

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on April 11-12 as the Blue Raiders compete at the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament at StoneCrest Golf Club in Prestonsburg, Ky.
