Ronoh Shines at Queen City in Cross Country's Season Debut

ALEXANDRIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2011 season today at the Queen City Invitational at A.J. Jolly Park.

The Blue Raider women finished eighth in the 15-team field with 24 team points. The Lindsey Wilson men did not score as a team.

In the women's race, Lindsey Wilson junior Sharon Ronoh led the Blue Raider women harriers with a fourth place finish in the 135-woman field. Ronoh finished the 5,000 meters with a time of 18 minutes and 31.10 seconds.

Ronoh's fourth place finish was the top finish for a NAIA harrier. Eastern Kentucky University's Lydia Kosgei won the individual title with a time 17:43.80.

Lindsey Wilson senior Alicia Mattingly crossed the line in 61st place with a time of 21:11 while Maria Sanchez finished in 78th with a time of 21:50.

Other Blue Raider finishers included Madison Mills (22:07) in 83rd, Reini Brickson (22:42) in 92nd, Jennifer Miller (22:48) in 93rd, Angela Herbig (23:01) in 99th and Amanda Bland (23:29) in 107th.

NCAA Division I Xavier (Ohio) University won the event with a team-total of 38 points.

In the men's race, a trio of Blue Raiders competed.

Ben Graham finished 113th in the 132-man field with a time 19:58. His teammate JR Northcutt finished one place behind Graham with a time of 20:00. Kameron Spivey rounds out the Blue Raider contingent with a time of 20:46, good enough for 120th.

University of Cincinnati (Ohio) won the team event with 25 points while Cincinnati's Eric Finan captured the individual title with a time of 15:10 over the 5,000 meters.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Berea (Ky.) College Invitational.
