Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team raced out to an 18-point lead in the first 11 minutes of the game and never trailed en route to a 88-73 win over visiting Georgetown (Ky.) College today at Biggers Sports Center.
The No. 20-ranked Blue Raiders (14-5, 3-3 in the Mid-South Conference) set season highs with 11 three-pointers and 50 percent shooting from behind the arc to beat the 15th-ranked Tigers.
Three Blue Raiders scored in double figures led by Ashley Rainey's 29 points. Jasmine Brimm added 23 points -- including a career-high three three-pointers -- while Monny Niamke chipped in 18 points.
Five Tigers scored in double digits led by Jessica Waddle's 12 points.
Lindsey Wilson used a 22-9 run over a four-minute period in the first half to build a 34-16 midway through the half. The Tigers managed to chip away at the Lindsey Wilson lead and trailed 49-39 at the break.
In the second half, Georgetown (12-6, 5-2) cut the lead to four points on two different occasions around the 13-minute mark, but that would be as close as the Tigers would get.
Lindsey Wilson scored 10 of the next 11 points to regain control of the game and eventually won by 15.
The Blue Raiders shot 52.4 percent (33-of-63) from the floor compared to the Tigers' 35.9 percent (23-of-64). Lindsey Wilson also matched a season-low with eight turnovers.
Rainey finished the game with her sixth double-double of the season after adding 11 rebounds to her 29 points.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Thursday, January 19, as the Blue Raiders travel to No. 18-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) University.
