Turnovers Stymie Rainey's Big Night at Campbellsville for Women's Basketball

Box Score

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Even 35 points and 18 rebounds from Ashley Rainey couldn't save No. 20 Lindsey Wilson College as it turned the ball over 20 times and struggled mightily from behind the arc in a 77-65 loss at No. 17 Campbellsville (Ky.) on Thursday at the Powell Athletic Center.

The Blue Raiders hit just 4-of-26 shots from 3-point range and shot only 37.7 percent from the field.

Campbellsville shot 46.7 percent from the field and was led by Mackenzie Lee with 17 points. The Tigers were outrebounded 39-37, but the poor shooting by Lindsey Wilson left it without any way to climb back into the game.

Monny Niamke backed up Rainey with 20 points and four assists, but no other Blue Raider was a factor offensively as Jasmine Brimm's five points were the next highest total.

Mary Jehlic added 12 points for the Tigers and Chelsea Craig sent in 11 points from the post.

While Lindsey Wilson's 15.4 percent showing from deep was bad, Campbellsville didn't do any better, hitting just one three to finish at 11.1 percent.

The game wasn't always in Campbellsville's favor as the Blue Raiders led 38-32 at halftime, but an inability to score and hold on to the ball in the game's later stages proved enough for the Tigers to hold on to their comeback win.

Campbellsville outscored Lindsey Wilson 45-27 in the second half. The Blue Raiders are back in action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday at St. Catharine (Ky.) in Saint Catharine, Ky.
