ST. CATHARINE, Ky. -- Adding up the little things, including a horrendous showing at the free-throw line and foul trouble, the No. 20 Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team couldn't overcome St. Catharine (Ky.) on Saturday, losing 81-76 at Lourdes Hall.

Lindsey Wilson finished 24-of-41 from the stripe and 4-of-15 from behind the arc, once again relying on the trio of Ashley Rainey, Jasmine Brimm and Monny Niamke offensively.

Rainey stayed on the court for just 21 minutes with foul trouble following her the entire game. In limited time she still put up a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Brimm finished with 26 points and nine boards, while Niamke scored 16 points.

Janae Howard and Kasei Evans led St. Catharine (15-5, 2-5 MSC) with 23 points each, while Courtney Milam hit two big threes late to finish with 10 points and four rebounds as the Patriots recorded their first win against Lindsey Wilson in program history.

With 20.9 seconds left in the game, Howard hit two free throws to put the Patriots up 79-76. Lindsey Wilson (14-7, 3-5 MSC) called a timeout to set up a play with 17.1 seconds to play, but Howard intercepted a Niamke pass out of the timeout with eight seconds on the clock and finished the layup to go up by five and seal the win.

The Blue Raiders trailed by as many as eight points in the first half, but used a 11-0 run in the later stages of the half to take a 30-27 lead with four minutes to play.

The three-point lead held up through the rest of the half as Rainey was made basically useless on defense with three fouls.

With the Patriots taking advantage in the paint, they slowed the Blue Raider rally and took a 34-31 deficit into halftime.

At the break Rainey had already put together a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Just like in the first half, Lindsey Wilson built an eight-point lead once again, but as Rainey was sent to the bench with a quick fourth foul the Patriots got right back into the mix and took a 52-50 at the 11:44 mark of the second half.

Trailing 61-59 the Blue Raiders got some momentum rolling as senior Michelle Copley blocked Howard's shot which turned into the 3-pointer from junior Stacia Jo Hill to put Lindsey Wilson back in front by a point.

St. Catharine's Courtney Milam came up with back-to-back threes for the Patriots, ensuring it would be a battle down the stretch.

Rainey returned with 4:29 on the clock, after sitting out nearly 14 minutes on the Lindsey Wilson bench. The Patriots led 66-65 when the junior from Bowling Green, Ky., checked back in.

On the very next possession Rainey picked up right where she left off, scoring a bucket in the paint to tie the game at 67.

As quickly as she scored on the court she was forced to leave it after being whistled for an offensive foul. St. Catharine took advantage once again, building a three-point lead down the stretch.

The Patriots didn't have trouble at the stripe, hitting 20-of-25 attempts, while also connecting on 3-of-7 3-pointers in the second half. Without Rainey on the court for long stretches, the Patriots also outrebounded the Blue Raiders 53-40.

St. Catharine finished the game shooting 39.7 percent from the field, compared to 40.0 percent for the Blue Raiders.
