LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Transylvania (Ky.) University edged the Lindsey Wilson College men's swimming team 130-110 and clipped the women 71-30 on Saturday at the William T. Young Campus Center Pool.
The Blue Raider women also dueled against Campbellsville (Ky.), winning 53-32 to tally their second win against the Tigers in the past two weeks.
With six first-place touches, the Blue Raider men battled Transylvania, losing by just 20 points to the NCAA Div. III program.
Leading the way for Lindsey Wilson was junior Logan Wetzel with a pair of first-place marks. The first came in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10 minutes and 31.38 seconds, while he also touched first in the 500-free with a time of 5:09.29.
Wetzel also added a third-place finish in the 200-individual medley to his resume, touching in 2:14.66.
Freshman Connor Lyle gave Lindsey Wilson another first in the 200-free in 1:49.80, followed by third-place finishes in the 100-backstroke (59.14 seconds) and 200-back (2:17.72).
Sophomore Corey Hall was also a two first-place finish swimmer at Transylvania, winning the 200-butterfly in 2:04.60 and the 100-fly in 54.8 seconds.
Newcomer Luke Royal was second in the 50-free with a time of 23.11 seconds, while he won the very next event in the 100-free, touching in 50.89 seconds. Junior Daniel Lyle backed him up in the 100 with a second-place finish of 51.47 seconds.
Royal also had success in the 100-fly, touching in 55.99 seconds to take second place.
Sophomore Johnathan Hindman finished third in the 100-breast with a time of 1:03.05 and continued to take second place in the 500-free with a touch in 5:29.94.
Freshman Will Alvey rounded out the men's top finishes with a second-place swim in the 200-Im with a time of 2:10.11.
Freshman Sarah Wood paced the women with a win in the 500-free (5:48.59) and third-place showing in the 200-free (2:06.28).
Sophomore Deah Reese touched in second in the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:18.11, while newcomer Kate Spaulding was second in the 200-IM (2:28.35.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the pool at 6 p.m. CT on Jan. 25 against St. Catharine (Ky.) and Campbellsville (Ky.) at the Holloway Health & Wellness Center Natatorium.
