No. 22 Women's Basketball Pushes Past West Va. Tech 79-59

MONTGOMERY, W. Va. -- It took a half to get going, but the 22nd ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team eventually found its offense to top the West Virginia Institute of Technology 79-59 on Thursday at the Neal Baisi Athletic Center in Montgomery, W. Va.

Sophomore Jasmine Brimm led the way with a career-high tying 26 points, while senior Taylor Lockridge added a career-high matching 12 points for the Blue Raiders. Freshman Monny Niamke knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and added 14 points.

The Golden Bears were led by Amy Gardner with 23 points and Amber Tully with 21. Tully hit three 3-pointers, while Gardner hit just 1-of-10.

West Virginia Tech jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the game's first eight minutes on a free throw by Roche Wimberly, but after the point from the strip both teams went cold for the next eight minutes.

During the span the Golden Bears failed to score, while Lindsey Wilson didn't take advantage, scoring just four points itself.

A layup by Skylar Dawkins were the first points in nine minutes to give West Virginia Tech a 22-12 lead with five minutes to play in the first half.

The final five minutes belonged to the Blue Raiders as they outscored the Golden Bears 15-7 to enter halftime down just two, 29-27.

West Virginia Tech led 27-18 on a basket by Tully with 3:30 to play before Lindsey Wilson went on a 9-0 run to tie the game with seven seconds on the clock.

The Blue Raiders had no trouble putting the ball in the basket in the second half, outscoring West Virginia Tech 52-30 to pull off the 20-point win.

Brimm scored the majority of her game-high points in the half as she took over in the paint and hit a 3-pointer to put away the Golden Bears.

The Blue Raiders improve to 12-3 on the season with the win and extend their winning streak to eight games, while West Virginia Tech drops to 5-11 overall.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday at the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) in Rio Grande, Ohio.
